We're gonna party like it's Pioneer Day!

Friends, Family, Food, Fireworks, Fun...
...and did I mention friends? We always say here on Winter Wheat Way that we have the best neighbors, no guys, YOU ARE the best neighbors.

It was on July 24th, 2006 that we spent our first day in our new house. We hadn't even slept here yet when our sweet neighbors, the Dobsons, Harrells and Francises sent their children over to invite us to their Pioneer Day BBQ. And the rest, as they say, is history. Kliss has some cute pictures on her blog from that first shindig.

This year, we moms had a couple of porch meetings to plan the affair and with a little help from Family Fun Magazine, we came up with some fun activities.

But first, there was food. Someone (I don't know who, because they were set up when we got there.) set up tables between the Dobson's and Harrell's houses. Also, this year the Ericksons, Lemkes and Newbys joined us. The more the merrier.

Gavin and Mya:Then, there was the water ballon fight. Thanks, Laurie, for filling up 450 water ballons!Trent and Jack decided to go after Ricky with the balloons:When there were no balloons left, the cooler seemed like a good idea:
Uh-huh... we see how that ended. That's right, Jack, you play with fire - you're gonna get BURNED!Next, it was craft-time. Glow-in-the-dark T-shirts and glow-in-the-dark tennis balls connected to nylon rope (or twine).
I wish I had gotten a picture of the Dad's playing their GITTARS. (I know I spelled it wrong. It just sounds better if you put the emphasis on the first syllable and pronounce it "Git-tar".) Kliss has a cute picture on her blog of the live entertainment. And Lyn has more pictures of all of it.

And last but not least, the pyrotechnics show. We heard a few pops and saw a few sparks from a few streets over. Someone said something about Millet Place. I don't know, cul-de-sac of fire ain't got nuthin' on us.
Here are Riley and Morgan enjoying the fireworks:When it was all over - happy and tired kids: (Gavin was already in bed.)
Until next year...thanks, girls. YOU are the coolest moms on the block.

I love Mobile and would never leave my family but, sigh, sometimes you make Utah look really, really good. Oh well... Miss y'all! P.S. was totally amazed by Ricky's talent! Way to go! I cannot do a handstand myself.
