Kid Dates and America's Junior Miss

We have a tradition with the Emmertsons that we call "Kid Dates." During our Summertime visits, Annie and I take the same-age cousins out for some one-on-one time. These "dates" have become a much-anticipated summer event. Who knows how much longer Brant and Payton will think a date together is cool, but for now, they still love eachother as much as they did when they were tiny. They were born exactly two months apart and have always had a special bond. For their date they wanted to go to the mall. Gavin got to come, too, because he wasn't feeling well and we didn't want to leave him with Trent.

We started with lunch at Chik-fil-a:

Then, dressing-up at American Eagle:Sampling the scents at Bath and Body Works:Showing some "Bama Pride":And finally, riding the carousel. (Brant is wearing the shirt he picked out at the Alabama store. He had to put it on the SECOND we left the store.)
The America's Junior Miss Competition is in town this week and later we took the Girls, Lance, and Grandma Jeannie downtown to catch the Community Night dress rehearsal. Here they are meeting two Azalea Trail Maids before the show began. I'm sure Annie would love for me to share that she was an Azalea Trail Maid in High School. Her dress was lavendar. Maybe I'll dig out a picture...for posterity. After the show, Grandma Jeannie took us out to the Blue Bunny Store for Ice Cream.

QOTD: "It's like heaven in a little gross bag."
