Late Night Club

Gavin's normal bedtime routine involves Ricky wrapping him in his favorite blanket and taking him outside to swing on the porch swing until he starts to get sleepy. Then, still awake, he is laid in his bed to fall asleep.

Here at Annie's house he has his own little toddler-sized bed to sleep in, but Annie doesn't have a porch swing. Anyway, it wouldn't matter if she did because even at bedtime it is so stinkin' hot and if we went outside the bugs would probably carry us away. So bedtime has been a challenge. Add to the change in routine the fact that he gets so worn out swimming and playing during the day that he has gotten into the habit of taking a late-afternoon nap, and you have a two-year-old who does not want to go to bed.

Tonight he very energetically watched everyone else go to bed, but he was rarin' and ready to go. So, Annie and I let him wander around the house for awhile while we made fun of people on Facebook. After a few minutes we heard water running and knew that wasn't a good sign. I grabbed my camera, we followed the sound of the water and found him in the kitchen where he very plainly told us he "wash hands." Yes, I see how that would be important at 11:00 at night.

Don't hate us for making fun of people on Facebook. Doesn't everyone do that?

QOTD: "Aunt Na-who?"
