{Happy Mardi Gras}
Laissez les bons temps rouler... and roll and roll.
We got a super special, super secret Mardi Gras package in the mail from Annie last weekend - the contents of which will be used for an event to be covered in a future post. For today, we made a King Cake and threw around just a few beads. When you move away from the land of Mardi Gras, you have to do your own thing sometimes. So here's the lowdown on the King Cake... I've never made one before. We always bought them at Mardi Gras time, but this year I thought it would be fun to try to make our own. I looked for recipes online. Some of them seemed a little intimidating until I noticed a recipe for King Cake in a bread machine on the sidebar at allrecipes.com. Insert excited squeal. You know I love my bread machine. I tried it out and it was easy and delicious. Try it sometime... You're welcome.

***Lynne's little recipe adjustment: For the cinnamon filling - I substituted brown sugar for white sugar, left out the pecans, and doubled the amount. (Just for the filling.)
