{Rock Climbing with the Hites}
Tonight for Family Home Evening, we headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon to do a little rock climbing with the Hites and Jack and Hank. We found ourselves a nice little picnic area, built a fire for our dutch oven dinner, and hiked up to the climbing spot.
It was decided that Jack would be the lead climber which basically means that he climbed the rock first without a rope holding him from above. As he climbed, he latched his rope onto the hooks that were already attached to the rock.
When he got to the top, he hooked his rope to the latches at the top and rappelled down...
Now, everyone else could climb safely...
Trent was the next one up...
Then Riley...
Nate...
Ricky...
Yes, I did it, too...
Trent belaying the little kids...
...of course, he is barefoot...
...and everyone else just hanging out...
Gavin climbed while Ricky was climbing on the other side, so when Gavin got to the top and was scared to come down, Nate had to climb up to rescue him...
