Sunday Morning Session

In addition to the Priesthood Session tickets, Irene brought us 6 tickets to the Sunday morning session of General Conference. Ricky, Irene, Trent, Riley and I went while Mimi and Opa stayed home with the little boys. I wish that everyone I know could have an opportunity to go to General Conference live at least once. It is so inspiring to be gathered together in such an amazing place with so many people for the same purpose. This time I wondered if it would be different with our new Prophet. When we came here two years ago, the most impressive part was the hush that fell over the entire very large room when President Hinckley walked in. Everyone stood in unison and quietly watched as he waved his cane at us and made his way to his seat. The feeling of reverence that we all felt for this Prophet of God was something I will never forget.
Now, two years later, I wondered if that same feeling would be there as President Monson entered to preside over his first Sunday Morning Session of Conference as President of the Church.

It was. President Monson came in almost a full hour before the meeting actually started. He walked in with Sister Monson by his side, followed by his two counselors. He showed Sister Monson to her seat and then took his own.

I think we belong to such a cool church. Everything about it is so great. We have a Prophet that speaks the mind and will of the Lord. We have scripture that was written for us centuries ago by inspired men who truly could see our day. Our church is the Lord's Church on the Earth today thanks to a 14-year-old boy who had the faith the ask. And because of that, we get to be with our families forever. That, my friends, is pretty cool.

Here are a few pictures we took:

We had one extra ticket and Riley wanted to decide who to give it to. As we walked toward the conference center, we passed several people holding up signs saying that they needed tickets. Riley walked right by all of them until she found just the right person to take our extra ticket. She handed it to the lady and kept walking. The lady she gave it to ran after us and gave Riley a hug. She asked Riley how she knew that she just needed one ticket. She explained to us that she had come all the way from Florida to go to Conference with her sister and she didn't have a ticket, but she just knew someone would be nice enough to give her one. So, of course, I took their picture.

I love every part of your post. You didn't tell me that about the extra ticket. That is so sweet. I hope you did tell that lady that they show conference at all the church buildings. So next year she won't have to walk so far. Anyway, the most amazing part of the whole story for me was that ya'll were EARLY?!? Get the heck out of here. Some day you will have to tell me what that is like.
