Memory Lane

Here is a totally different game of tag.

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew us a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you.

Sounds like fun! Try not to embarass me, OK?

Hi Lynne, I have several great memories of you that come to mind=) Many revolve around the kids - birthday parties, playgroups, etc. There are two that, for some reason, come to mind. First, I remember, years ago, you and Ricky started jogging and were planning to run the Azalea Trail. You told me when you first started running; you thought to yourself – “if Susan can do it, I can too!” That still brings a smile to my face when I think about it because it was so true. Honestly, if I could run a 10K – ANYONE could, lol. The other memory is a bit more personal. When I suffered my first miscarriage, you took the time to stop by and bring banana bread. Although, I really didn’t want to see anyone, I was okay with you coming by. It’s hard to explain but I truly felt that you understood what I was going though. It really meant a lot to me. So, in case I didn’t say it before – thanks!

I loved it when your sweet precious daughter Riley sang at church. I looked at her pure little freckeled face singing to her Father in Heaven and it made me weep.

I love looking down the street and seeing a silhouette of my son Jack and his bud Trent sitting on the porch swing, with their legs getting longer by the month.

I loved the day you let me hold your new little baby. And every sweet smile he has sent my way.

Thanks Lynne for all the these little gifts! Love ya!

I remember one time we were parked in carpool together and you were reading Sis. Nadauld's book, "A Mother's Influence" and you were so excited about it that you let me read some of the passages with you. As I read, I could not help but think what a wonderful example you are of a mother. The love you have for your children shines and I really admire that! And like Susan said who can forget all the great parties and playgroups at your house!

I also remember after Ariel was born you came to visit. You came bearing gifts one being a PEOPLE magazine. I loved that.

But my most favorite memory is that every year (or so it seemed) at Christmas you sang that beautiful song of Mary singing to the baby Jesus...something about being a king, but tonight you are mine (for the life of me I can't think of the title. Can you jog my memory?). I love that song especially when you sing it. I can just imagine Mary holding the Savior in her arms and knowing the huge reponsibility, not only she would have as the mother of the Savior, but also that her "baby" would have for the world. In my opinion, you are the perfect person to sing that song. Last Christmas, someone else sang that song in our ward (I don't even remember who) and although, it was beautiful, it just was not the same as when you sang it. I remember telling Annie that after. I will forever miss you singing that song. Maybe you can come visit at Christmas and sing it again? One can only wish.

Is this a PG blog? Kidding. Memories of you....hmmmm. I have few. How about the time you were cleaning out your purse/suitcase and it had just about everything you owned in it, including an alarm clock. Or the time when we were supposed to be cleaning our room and instead, we taped everything to the walls. (Such a mature thing for a couple of teenagers to do.) Or the night before the first day of school (we were both in high school) and dad told us not to get back out of bed. But you just HAD to have your woobie out of the laundry room so you offered me a dollar to go get it. (Yes, $1!!!!) So I did, and I got caught and got in trouble.
So many memories, so little space to type them. How about hanging out in the parking lot of the dropsite on many mornings talking. You would have thought we hadn't seen each other in a while, when the truth is we had probably spent the previous day together, and would probably be spending that day together too. Or what about all of the Black Fridays we have spent elbowing our way through Walmart. Most recently, hanging our feet out of the car window and blaring Miley Cyrus in downtown Provo at 11:00 at night. I just realized that was righ outside the MTC. That wasn't very nice of us. The best part of all of these memories is that they are just a fraction of all the good times we have shared. And that we have so many more years to come of having a pants-wettin' good time (literally, especially if a trampoline is involved.)I love you!

Well first of all Carly and I love to look at your blog. She is constantly calling me in to read something about you and your family. We love you and your family.
This one as I look back on, is funny now; but it was night mare at the time.
Hey Lynne remember when you were at the Alabama School of Math and Science (which is in a "great" part of downtown)
I thought it would be a good idea for you to have a can of mace!
Being the proud owner of a new can of mace...
What should you do???????????
Well everyone knows the responsible thing to do is to test fire that baby.
You have to know with out any doubt, that thing is not going to let you down. Right!!!!!??????
Because you can't be wondering IS THIS THING GOING TO WORK!!!???,
...if the boogie man comes to get ME.
So we are standing out in the parking lot of the school and I fire that sucker off just as a nice breeze comes and the mist hits us in our face.
WOW I FELT LIKE I COULD JUST MELT IN TO THE PAVEMENT.
Partly because, that stuff really works; HOLY COW BURN BABY BURN!
But mostly because Lynne as you all know has asthma and it almost caused her to have an attack.
Which annoyed, she quickly let me know how crazy that was.
WoW!!
Too funny!!!
Fun times and great memories.
Well Lynne I have never got to Thank you for being such a great example to me.
I am sure any one who reads this can relate; anyway
Recently on one of Lynne's visits home I spoke with her and she asked me about life. I must have been burdened with the worldly cares of being a Father and College Student because I caught Lynne commenting on the positive side of any negative comment I made about my life.
I just want to say thank you Lynne for your example.
YOU ARE ONE THE REASONS I BECAME HALF OF THE MAN I AM TODAY.
For those who do not know Lynne and I dated in High School.
It was through Lynne's influence and example I was able to remain worthy to serve a mission.
And I could not imagine what my life would have been like had I dated the wrong person and through poor choices forfeited that opportunity to serve.
It has been 18 years since We met
( WOW WE ARE GETTING OLD)
And YOU will always be a FOREVER FRIEND.

I remember sitting outsie with Kliss, and Laurie watching your house being built. We kept wondering who was going to move in. I remember us saying "hope it is someone really fun!" Sure enough it was. We couldn't have hand picked a better family to join our neighborhood friends. Thanks!

I also remember the first time we got together in the backyard for our 24th of July BBQ. This was a prelude of many many more fun times together.

Thanks for being a great friend and moving into the neighborhood. We love your family.

What all can I say about you? You were always a great example to me in word and deed. I loved watching your relationship with your family, and every time you teased Ricky when he was trying to be the uptight Bishop! I loved seeing your relationship with Annie. The first real memory I have of you is when you let me hold and dance with Brant at a ward activity. I think he was about nine months old! My, how they have grown. You were a great Bishop's wife, always welcoming the youth over and jumping in and having fun with them. I enjoyed visiting with you and feeling the Spirit in your home. Thank you for being my friend!

What I remember best about us is piano lessons. I can't tell you how much I enjoyed spending that time with you and talking. I really really loved that time we had together.

I also remember all those summer days we spent at the Olsen's making cookies and hanging out. We had so much fun!

I miss hanging out and talking, but I love reading your blog!

Okay, I am going again.

I remember when you told me the most awesome news...Wendy's was now serving onion rings! I drove my red van down into Lehi in anticipation only to find "sorry, were out of them today". Then one day, DING DONG. And there you were, standing on my porch with a fresh hot bag of onion rings! The best gift anyone has given to another. Love ya!
