Bring it, UTES!

Tonight's the night...The Mighty Alabama Crimson Tide takes on the Utah Utes in the Sugar Bowl. The game will be played in the New Orleans Superdome. At least two of my children would give their right arm to be there in person, I personally would love to watch the game in AL with the Emmertsons. But tonight we will be rootin' loud and strong for the Crimson Tide in our Utah living room surrounded by friends who love the Utes as much as we love the Tide.

This game has been the talk of the town for weeks now, ever since the Bowl Games were announced. There has been alot of trash-talking by some pretty confident Utah fans. I must say that Utah has had a great season, going 12-0 over some, well, decent teams..for the Mountain West Conference. I'm just sayin'. They are proud to be going to a BCS Bowl Game and even more proud to be going against a team as nationally respected as Alabama. Utah is at the top of their game this season. Going to the Sugar Bowl is huge for them. While I'm sure the Crimson Tide respects their opponent and what they've accomplished this year, I think the Salt Lake Tribune put it best when they said the Sugar Bowl is somewhat of a right for Alabama, definitley somewhere they've been before. In fact, Alabama and LSU are tied for the most appearances in the Sugar Bowl of any school in the country. It was in the Sugar Bowl that Alabama ended their 1992 season with a National Championship.

Now for a gratuitous picture of my favorite, John Parker Wilson.

The game tonight should be fun. A recent poll showed that 89% of sports fans in the country think that Alabama will win. It has been a treat to read about Alabama Football in the local newspapers everyday for the past few weeks. I'll miss seeing the Crimson Tide logo on the front page after this weekend. I have an idea of what tomorrow's headline will be. Let's hope I'm right, Tide fans!

Even last Saturday's edition of the LDS Church News mentioned Alabama Football. Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin played football at the University of Utah. Even until his death last month he was a loyal fan of the Utes. In honor and memory of Elder Wirthlin, the Utes will wear the letters "JBW" on the backs of their helmets tonight. A fitting tribute to be sure. I'll throw a "Go Utes!" out there for Elder Wirthlin.

Other than that, if you're in the neighborhood tonight, come watch the game with us! It is sure to be a lively party. Ricky and I are cookin' up some cajun food in honor of New Orleans. And as they say in the Big Easy: "Let the good times ROLL!" and ROLL and ROLL.

At the end of the night, all I have to say is...
May the best team win.
And I'm sure they will.
Roll Tide.
Amen.

We are yelling Roll Tide here too. Can you hear us? The girls are all wearing their Alabama shirts and we are planning a little party ourselves. It is kind of sad that the Ute fans actually think they might have a chance. They have never seen football like they will see it tonight. The Crimson Tide is going to open a can! Know what I'm sayin'. I would give my right arm to have ya'll here watching the game with us, too. Just make sure you represent for us Tide fans who can't do any trash talking in person.

By the way, if you want to really bring the New Orleans or Nawlins vibe you have to say "Laissez Les Bon Temps Roulez."

Looks like Lynn painfully went out of her way to contain the Bama trash talk and show just enough respect to the Utes for tonight’s game. I’d love to be among the cheering Utes at the Benham’s tonight…but we’ve got another party to attend. GO UTES!!!
Roll Tide!
Utah should make for a nice snack for the season... just like some people have a light snack before going to bed @ night.

I'm tempted to not say anything . . . but since the trash talk was a little deep!

Here is a die hard BYU fan saying way to go Utes. That game made even this true blue Cougar proud to see a Utah team represent on the national and BCS stage.

I hope your Ute houseguests were not too rough on you guys. And I hope that your handsome quarterback recovers from all those sacks.

(Please take this ribbing in good stride as it is totally meant that way!)

Love ya Lynne!

My deepest sympathies to my Bama friends, who watched a low Tide get burried last night. Don't stick your head in the sand, though. Your dear Tide fought the good fight against the Utes. I hope the Ute fans that watched with you last night weren't too rough on your injured Bama Pride last night! Love your fam!
