Spring Break wasn't very "Springy" last week. It snowed like crazy Tuesday night and most of the day on Wednesday. Saturday, we took advantage of the new-fallen snow and warmer temperatures and went skiing at Brighton. We knew it was the last weekend they were open so it was "Bikini Day" but we figured, "Hey, it won't be anything the kids haven't seen a hundred times at the beach, right?" Umm, Yeah...
So, here's my favorite picture of the day. These guys walked by our car when we were packing up our equipment to go home. Evidently the party was just getting started.
And then there were these two that I spotted on the lift.
Ricky and the older three left first thing in the morning and we planned for me to stay with the other two until lunchtime when Lance was to be dropped at a birthday party. We tag-teammed after lunch and I got to ski the afternoon with Trent, Riley and Brant.
Trent...
Riley...
And Brant...funny thing about Brant. Last run of the day. We got on the lift right as they shut the gate. Traversed along the top of the hill until we found the run we wanted. Brant found a small patch of ice and his skis came out from under him. He wasn't hurt, but his left ski popped off as it is designed to do, but when it did the back part of his binding shifted forward just enough that I couldn't get his boot back on his ski. I called Ricky who was playing in the snow with Gavin down at the lodge and he sent ski patrol up to help us. I thought they could just fix his binding and we would be on our way, but apparently they have a policy against adjusting bindings on the hill. It's a liability or something. They informed us that Brant would need to be transported down on a toboggan. OK...that was the highlight of his Spring Break.
Here he is waiting to be "rescued."
It's always nice when everyone makes it down safe and sound.
And one last shot of Gavin. He was sad that he didn't get to ski. Next year for sure...
