{Cousin Date}

Cousin dates are a very important BenEmmertson tradition. Annie and I started this a few years ago: We take similar-aged cousins on a day-long outing. This is one of the most anticipated activities of any Alabama or Utah visit. The kids spend lots of time listing their options and then choosing what they will do on their date. In fact, Brant and Payton had their date planned after the Emmertsons had only been here a few minutes this time. Lance and Hayden had a little twist to their date this year: they wanted Mimi to take them on it. So, they spent the night with her last night and had an awesome day in downtown Salt Lake.

Meanwhile, Annie and I clipped coupons all day in preparation for our ninja couponing trip tonight. The Wal-Marts in Utah County double coupons on Tuesday and we will be there at 10:00 p.m. to do our shopping so that we can check out at midnight. (Yes, that's Dave's dog. We're watching him for a few days while Dave is camping in Southern Utah.)
Lance and Hayden were back from Salt Lake in time for Family Home Evening. Payton gave a fabulous lesson about the Holy Ghost while Gavin and Hayden did this the whole time...
Caramel Corn was our treat, then Annie and I left for Wal-Mart...
Just a quick rundown of our couponing trip. When we got to the Saratoga Springs Wal-Mart at a little after 10, there were tons of coupon-ladies circling like sharks and after a quick survey of the shelves, we realized that most of the good deals that we were after were gone. We got back in the car and went to the Wal-Mart in American Fork, where we found what we were looking for and much more....

We took pictures of our carts while we waited in line for over 2 hours. This middle of the night couponing is not something that either of us would probably do on our own, but since we were together it was super-fun, even though we were super-sleep-deprived the next day.And when it was all over, here is some of our haul. This does not include any of the refrigerated or frozen things or the things that were consumed by the children before we got a picture of it. Our food storage thanks us...
