{Strummin' my six-string, on my front porch swing}
Riley has become a talented little guitar player. A few months ago my brother, Dave, showed her a few chords and some technique and she has taken it from there. She'll google a song she likes, learn the chords, and before long she can sing and play it together. So, on this gorgeous Saturday afternoon, we watched the boys play outside and rocked out on the porch to some Taylor Swift, Zac Brown, Jimmy Buffett, and Jack Johnson.Oh, and some Riley Benham.
Meanwhile, the big boys took a Jeep ride up Lake Mountain...
Ricky let Trent drive and at one point they found themselves behind??? a fence with a "No Trespassing" sign on it. In order to get out of the area, they had to clear a berm that had been built around it. Ricky told Trent to pull up just a little so he could see if they had enough clearance under the Jeep. Trent pulled up more than a little, and high-centered the Jeep. Luckily, they had a shovel in the back and were able to dig themselves out. Here is Ricky washing out the mud that was caked in the under-side...
And later, it was time for Riley's very first Stake Dance! They call it that, but it's actually an eight-stake dance. All four Stakes in Saratoga and four in Eagle Mountain participate. So, basically it's all the kids from the Vista Heights MS and Westlake HS who are 14 or over. Trent doesn't love going to the dances, but he agreed to go to this one with Riley...
They dress code was "better dress" so Riley texted her friend Monica these pictures so she could help her figure out what to wear...
