Riley and I headed up to Vista Heights M.S. this evening for a meeting about the upcoming Spring Musical. Seeing the flag flying at half-staff caused us to pause and quietly talk for a few moments about the victims of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan over the weekend. After further inquiry, we discovered that the flag had been lowered today in honor of Army Corporal Frank W. Buckles, the last surviving American Veteran of World War I, who had been laid to rest earlier today.
This first picture was taken facing west with the beautiful snow covered western mountains in
the background.
This one is facing east with Mount Timpanogos in the background. I love this picture because you can see Westlake High School with the seminary building right there behind the flagpole. Between Vista and Westlake is Riley's soccer team's home field. Next to that field is the field where Brant has soccer practice and the one where he will practice football starting in just a couple of months. Needless to say, we come to this part of town a lot. It takes us about 5 minutes or less to get here, depending on which way we come out of our neighborhood. Pretty convenient, huh?
