{Spring Break - Day 3}

Dave had to leave us this morning to get back to Salt Lake for a party he was heading up at the restaurant where he works. When he left we promised to definitely do this again, which we will. The ghost town of Grafton UT, where some of the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" was filmed is just down the road from our campground. Since Ricky and the big boys are a fan of the movie, we headed over there for a little sight-seeing and picture taking. We were amused by the sign along the dirt road leading to the town.
This cemetery outside of Grafton was especially cool...
When we left the ghost town, we drove down to La Verkin to gas up the car and find a park for our picnic lunch. Before this trip, as we shopped for groceries and prepared for our hikes, Lance was sure that we HAD to have Easy Cheese for the hiking trail. For some reason, he got it into his mind that it was essential. I have never bought Easy Cheese before and most of the kids have never had it, but I got him some anyway. After one squirt on a cracker, he realized how yucky it is. So, while the boys played on the playground, Riley and Trent had a Easy Cheese and Triscuit house building contest. A gross waste of Triscuits if you ask me...
Riley won...
Then we returned to the campground where Riley and I lounged by the pool with the boys...
...while Ricky and Trent went to check out another rappelling area...
For the evening we fired up the pit for some sausages and dutch oven scalloped potatoes, visited with the Cochrans from our neighborhood who happened to be camping in their RV a few spaces down, had a Phase 10 tournament...
...and for dessert, we stuffed sugar cones with milk chocolate chips, marshmallows, and strawberries. Wrap those puppies in foil and throw 'em in the fire and you've got yourself a yummy treat...
Just for the record... within a stone's throw of our tent site is a bath house with nice warm showers, bathroom facilities, and plenty of soap for washing hands. Otherwise, these cone treats would be quite yucky. :)
